1 Gal. popped corn

1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup white syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1. Pop 1 gallon of popcorn. Sift out unpopped kernels and put corn in brown grocery bag.

2. Put second 4 ingredients in a two quart casserole dish, put in microwave and bring to a boil (appox 3 min on high). When it is bubbling, remove and stir, & cook on high for 2 more minutes.

3. Remove and stir in the soda & vanilla (it will foam up quickly, it's OK) Pour this mixture over the popcorn in the bag. Use a long handled wooden spoon or something to help spread the mixture around the popcorn without burning your hands. Close the bag and shake well. Put the bag, with the mixture inside, back into the microwave on high for 50 seconds. Take out, shake, and break up, through the bag. Back in the microwave for another 50 seconds, shake again. Back in the microwave for 20 seconds, shake, and another 20 seconds. Remove the popcorn from the microwave, and put it in shallow pan to cool. Stir and break up until it cools and stops sticking. Once cool, put it in a container (perhaps a monolithic dome) to keep fresh.
