FRENCH BREAD

This french bread is great if you are entertaining and you realize at the last second that you do not have any bread to go with dinner.


1 scant tablespoon active dry yeast
1 1/4 Cups warm water
3 cups flour or as needed
1 teaspoon salt
cornmeal

 

Add yeast to water. let stand 5 minutes. Add flour, salt. Knead. Let rise. knead. (if time allows). Shape as french bread on corn-mealed baking sheet. Let rise if time permits. Mist the dough. Bake at 450 for 25 to 30 minutes. Mist twice during the first 10 minutes.

It is simple, but a good filler for a meal.
