GRANOLA
Not too sweet, not too not sweet. (--Anne)
Mix these ingredients in a large flat casserole dish:
12 cups oats (6 instant and 6 rolled)
6 tablespoons flax meal
3 tablespoons instant powdered milk
3 tablespoons sunflower seeds
1/3 cup nuts (I use ½ pecans and ½ roasted, whole almonds)
1 cup brown sugar (not packed)
1 teaspoon salt
1 heaping teaspoon cinnamon
Then whisk together and add:
3 cups liquid total
1½ cup water
¾+ cup vegetable oil
½+ cup honey
Mix the dry and wet ingredients together in the casserole dish. If it is not clumping enough, add a few more tablespoons of water. Bake at 300°, stirring occasionally, for about 80 minutes, or until golden brown.
After baking, mix in some dried fruit. I like:
1/3 cup dried cranberries
1/3 cup Zante currants
