THANKSGIVING STUFFING
This recipe comes from "Slovenian Recipes" by Progressive Slovene Women of America, a cookbook given to Mom by Granny Zager. Mom leaves out 3 original ingredients: chopped parboiled liver and gizzards, and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. She uses this as the basis for making "vegetarian" turkey stuffing. Sometimes she adds thyme if there's time...

(double this recipe!)

1 onion
3 ribs celery
4 Tbsp butter
3 cups soft bread cubes
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp sage
2-3 Tbsp Fox Point seasoning
1 egg beaten

Chop onion and celery. Melt butter in deep skillet. Add onion and celery and cook until onions are transparent. Set aside to cool then add bread, seasonings and beaten egg; mix well but gently. If too dry add water. Either stuff turkey or put in a greased casserole dish; cover and bake 30-45 minutes.
