Machining
Machining of the chassis was originally done by hand in our basement; now it's done professionally, by a machinist with a CNC mill in his garage. We still handle design-change rework and repairs here, though. Getting this mill/drill into the basement took four strong people and a promise of beer. |
Inside the HA-1A
The innards. Careful printed circuit layout and high quality materials are critical in obtaining the HA-1A's remarkably low distortion. |
Workbench
The sunroom is a pleasant spot for the electronics workbench. This is where all the production soldering and lab-bench testing happens, as well as prototyping and repair work. |
Assembly
Some people say our idea of quality time together is strange. |
Testing
Every unit is thoroughly tested on the lab bench using an Audio Precision analyzer, and then tested again by me playing through it. |
Completed HA-1A The serial number is not etched on the back until the HA-1A has been fully assembled and passed testing. |
